Laboratory of Plant Reproductive Design

About

Our laboratory conducting education and research on the molecular mechanisms of germ cell development and fertilization in angiosperms using imaging and genetics as a foundation. By elucidating how pollen develops from a single cell and acquires fertilization ability, as well as how it meets with a female cell and produces seeds, we aim to understand the "Design of life" that connects life to the next generation.

Angiosperm seeds are an essential resource for our lives. However, due to recent climate change and population growth, stable and efficient production has needed. Therefore, by elucidating the causes of sterility and the mechanisms that allow more seeds to be produced with less pollen, we will contribute to society in areas such as agriculture and the environment. We are also working to develop new plant engineering technologies that incorporate cutting-edge methods and knowledge to "Design of plant reproduction".

Furthermore, we are working to connect with world through "Clear and effective communication design" by our research findings.
